Common Cents Mobile
Virgin Mobile powered by Sprint Failed activation of phone, no refund, no phone or service

Electronics and household app.

I finally bought a prepaid phone at Walmart. I was told this was an easy inexpensive way to have cell and texting service. I bought a phone (LG) by a company called common cents mobile. It seems like a great deal, they round your minutes down and have online activation.

I followed all of the instructions online to activate my phone and to create an account. I also had to put in a credit card to activate. When I tried to use my phone the phone gave me an error message.

I tried to log back into my account online. Apparently the only way to log in is with your phone number. When I did this it stated that the phone number is not a working number. No kidding. I finally found a customer service number that works on the website.

When I explained the situation the rep knew exactly what I was talking about meaning this has happened many times before and said there was nothing they could do and they would pass it on to headquarters. I asked what happens from there? She said, they will call you.

I explained that the reason I bought this phone was so that I could have a phone. I told her it would be pointless to have to buy another phone so that they could call me back about the original phone. She thought I was being irrational got angry and hung up on me.

After calling back, going through the situation with another rep who also knew exactly what I was talking about, I finally was able to get a better answer. They don't know why this happens but apparently this happens very frequently online. I also explained it about not being able to call me back on an unoperable phone and she actually understood this. She took my email down and said "I hope they can help you out in a couple of days." I asked her if my phone would ever work and she hesitated and said something round about like "once a serial number has been activated that phone can't be switched over." So I will take that as a Solid NO. I understand she is just trying to make her minimum wage, but surely this company must have a better way of dealing with this frequent problem.

This is the epitome of Rip Off. They charged my credit card already for an activation fee (twice for some reason), it was only two dollars, but still frustrating considering I can't use it.

I can't take the phone back to Walmart because the package is open and falls under that electronics category. Therefore I am out the 20 dollars for purchase, two dollars for the double activation fee, and the hour or more spent on a friends phone contacting them.

Do not buy a common cents mobile phone!
