They did not inform me of cancelation fee and took money from my checking without notification

I signed up for direct tv thru at&t bundle package. I was never informed of a cancellation fee. My programs very seldom came in I had it hooked up in three rooms of which one did not work at all. When I called them it took two weeks to come and supposedly fix the problem. I had to call many times they kept saying they would correct the problem which they never did. I then went back to my cable company. I had called and asked about how to return the receivers and never did get a straight answer. So now 3 months later they ship me boxes via fed ex to return the receivers, I just got the boxes on Saturday of this week, I boxed them up and called fed ex to pick them up today {Monday}. Meanwhile I have online banking and when I went on to my statement I am 727.55 short in my account because direct tv took the money out without telling me they were doing so. I called them and was informed it was for early cancellation and for failure to return the equipment. I told them I just received the materials to return the equipment and that fed ex was picking them up today. I was then told they could not issue me a refund until they recieve the equipment. Mean while I am out alot of money as I have checks written on some of those funds. I will never again do business with this company I can not believe that what they have done is even legal. I also informed them that the account was in my name and they took the funds from my husbands debit card not mine his name is not on the account with direct tv.
