Sold my home and moved across town. I had been a loyal Direct TV customer for 6 years although my bill has steadily increased during that time. So, two months before the move, I canceled my Direct TV service. I asked for three boxes to ship back the receivers I had. They only sent one box and I was in the process of moving out. So I called them to quickly to send me the remaining two boxes. Then the customer service rep (from India) said that I had didn't need to ship them back, that I had "old equipment" and that I could "recycle them". I asked what that meant and he said I could "get rid of the receivers". So I did. Four months later, I received a bill for the three receivers ($145!). I called customer service and complained to no avail. I mean, what would I do with these receivers anyway, they are useless to me and I was told I could get rid of them (they were 6 years old). I paid the bill but will never use Direct TV again. I am happy, however, because I now get my shows through the internet and Netflix. Direct TV is a shady company with poor customer service. I'm not going to put up with it and I'm filing a complaint with the WV State Attorney's Office who, by the way, has launched a class action lawsuit against this company for deceptive bill practices. I certainly don't miss seeing commercials for car insurance.
