Friends and Family is it truly a new offer or just a ploy?

Verizon Wireless has, in my opinion, mislead consumers who are interested in adding the newest feature - Friends and Family.
Do you qualify? It depends upon who you speak with. They advertised you could add five friends or family members if you had a plan of 900 minutes or more. On two occassions, thier representative told me yes I qualified, I had to go on line to add this new promotion, by changing my plan. What they didn't tell you is you must belong to their Nationwide Plan in order to take advantage of this promotion.
My plan, according to their representative, was grandfathered in. They no longer carry this plan. It is amazing how many times my one plan has been grandfathered in so to speak. I pay $59.00 for the same plan they are now referring to as Nationwide - but for my 900 minutes I would have to pay $79.00. Not only would I have to pay an additional $20.00 per month I am locked into a new two year agreement.
When is this nonsense going to stop? In this current economy why do they find it necessary to lead us on? Why is it they have to constantly upgrade their plans when there is no change other than they have developed a new way of describing the same features at a higher price?
