Given the run-around for customer service

Electronics and household app.

My Verizon calls were often cut off or wouldn't go through, sometimes just a few miles away from where I was calling (in a flat valley).

Cell towers are all over the place, so I was really puzzled. I took the phone back to where I purchased it (Radio Shack in my small town). They said to call Verizon.

I called Verizon and was told to take it to a REAL Verizon dealer, which was 45 miles from my home, and to give them a special code number. I drove to the Real Verizon dealer (apparently they don't recognize other dealers like Radio Shack - but why do they allow places like RS to sell their phones?!) and a very smug young man said "That's easy. Just dial xxx number and punch in this code" I did just that, and my service was updated.

Why couldn't the people at Radio Shack have told me that, and certainly, why couldn't they Verizon rep. On my original phone call to them have told me that! I wasted time and travel on something that could have been handled from my own home!!! For a communications company, they are doing a LOUSY job of communicating to the customer!!!
