Did not give full disclosure of product that they recommended

I have been an AT&T cell phone customer for almost 10 years. When my latest cell phone developed problems (it was old), I went to the local AT&T store on November 18 & asked if they had a replacement that used the same charger. The saleman said they had two (2) models & showed both of them to me. He said he owned one model & recommended it. I purchased that phone, signed a new contract & left. I don't use the phone that much, but did notice that it seemed a little slow to respond when a key was pushed.

After the holidays were over & I was back in town, I stopped by the same store (January 8) & asked what the problem was with the phone. This is when they told me I had purchased a phone with a "slow processor". If they had told me this back in November, I would not have purchased that phone. I asked what they could do & was told it was past their 30 day return policy & all they could do was sell me a new phone. I left & called their customer service department. All they offered was to sell me another phone for $169.95, too.

I have no problem with paying for the more expensive phone, at the price displayed in the AT&T store for signing a new contract, less what I have already paid for this slow phone. The personnel at AT&T apparently had rather lose a long standing customer than do what is right. The product was misrepresented by NOT giving me full disclosure & they refuse to work with me to resolve this error.

I have owned businesses for over 30 years & never treated a customer in this manner. No wonder corporate America is in financial trouble. The phrase "customer service" no longer exists&especially at AT&T.
When my current contract expires, I will drop AT&T forever.
