Won't replace defective Optical Block on KDF E42A10 Rear Projection TV Ft. Myers, FL 33913

I have a 3 year old Sony KDF E42A10 rear projection TV. A large yellow "stain" approx. 15 in.in diameter has appeared on the screen. Researching the problem and discussing the problem with Sony, I have been told the "Optical Block" needs to be replaced and the approx. Cost is $1000 to repair. A class action lawsuit was filed on other models with the same problem and Sony extended the warranty on those models thru June. All that they will tell me is that my TV is not covered under the recall. There appears to be large numbers of owners experiencing the same problem and getting the same treatment from Sony. Sony should step up and do the right thing! Replace the defective part!
