From bad to worse, chose to boycott company

I bought a laptop at Best Buy August. We asked for an extended warranty. What we did wrong was not double check the receipt and trusted the teenagers who work there.

The computer DVD/CD burner door wouldn't stay closed any more and we went to the store just after the manufacturer warranty expired only to be informed we had no extended warranty. It was written on the original paper work but not rung up at the register. We had bought several add-ons and didn't realize we didn't have the warranty. It was tax-free weekend so the place was very busy and most of their workers aren't real knowledgeable of the products. They often get a manager to answer simple questions.

They did offer to give us $150 credit to repair it. It cost us another $80. When we got it back the hinge was cracked and we sent it back and they said another $240 to fix it. We said no and they sent it back to us without any extra charges. When we got it though the plastic hinge casing was completely broken and the lid does not close properly any more.

I have tried to reason with them, but they keep saying it's our fault. I'm the type of person who is very honest and if I broke it I wouldn't argue with them. My last email to them just said I was buying a new computer somewhere else and paying more for it and telling everybody I can what happened to me. They didn't care!
