Laptop Extended Warranty Rip-off

I purchased and HP laptop computer in October and purchased a 3 year warranty from Fry's. Approximately 6 months after the purchase, the power cord plug (the part that plugs into the computer (NOT the wall) became extremely hot and melted. When I pulled it from the computer, I burned my hand (blister). I immediately took my laptop to Fry's repair department and was told to send it directly to HP. I told them that the reason I purchased the extended warranty was because of the loaner laptop given while the computer was fixed. They aquised and agreed to send the laptop to HP for me. I was given a loaner, but had to use my credit card to pay for it (I'd get a credit when it came back). This angered me because this was not told to me when purchasing the extended warranty. I cannot be without a computer as I am a college professor and use it to give lectures. My computer was away at HP for 6 weeks before receiving a call from Fry's telling me it was back at the store. I drove to the store and was told they hadn't received the computer back. I waited 2 more weeks and they finally called me telling me that I had to pay $400 to have it fixed and that the damage was my fault. I asked then or an explanation of exactly HOW I damaged the computer, and the Fry's employee told me he didn't know. So, I pay the $400 and get my computer fixed. 8 weeks later, I finally get the fixed computer home and sure enough, same problem!!! Took the computer back, 2 weeks later get a call that the computer is fine when they tested it (why it took 2 weeks I'll never know). Again, picked up the computer, brought it home, and same problem occured. Gave up, went to Best Buy and bought a Sony Vaio.
