Office Depot
PPP Plans are NOT extended warranties!

Miscellaneous

On June 19, I purchased an Hp Pavillion dv4419us laptop for my wife at the Office Depot store in Eden Prairie. I paid $799.99 for the laptop and 164.99 for a 3 year service plan that was supposed to cover my computer after the 1 year factory warranty had expired.
I deliberately inquired about this being an extended warranty because I knew I didn't need 2 warranties to cover the 1st year of use. That wouldn't make any sense. I also knew that i could buy an extended warranty at a later date before my factory warranty had expired but the Office Depot emloyee assured me, after asking his manager while I was standing there, that the EXTENDED warranty wouldn't take effect until after the 1st year factory warranty had expired. That would mean that my wifes Hp laptop should be covered until June 18.
Today is June 30th and we just contacted the Office Depot warranty personnel about an issue with our DVD/CD burner drive having a glitch in it and we were informed that the computer warranty had expired 12 days ago and that the 3 year EXTENDED warranty that I purchased had in fact, taken effect the date I purchased it.
Now that misrepresentation of the worst kind and there's definitely got to be some kind of law stating it's wrong to lie to someone and sell them something they don't need.
Why would ANYONE purchase a second warranty when something they bought brand new is already covered? Unless of course it was explained to them that it was an EXTENDED warranty and wouldn't take effect until after the 1st year warranty expired.
OFFICE DEPOT... You have lost my business and my companies business and I hope this and all the other RIP OFF REPORTS about you cause a snowball effect on you and your whole company.
It's very un-American and just plain dishonest to do to your customers what you have obviously been doing to a lot of other people.
KARMA states "You will get what you dish out!" and let's not forget the most powerful "Do Unto Others, as You Would Have Them Do Unto You!"
