Sony Ericsson
Yet another "water damage" copout by S.E

Electronics and household app.

I got a Sony Ericsson W300i to go along with my 2-year Cingular contract (ugh...) when I moved from Florida to North Carolina back in March. Everything was fine until towards the end of September when the phone started acting flaky (shutting off on its own, freezing up, etc.). A few days of this go by and I eventually get what's referred to as "White Screen of Death"... Anytime I tried to turn on the phone it would blink a white screen and nothing else. I called S.E. Thinking this would be a simple warranty issue that they would resolve quickly. Boy, was I way off on that one! Their awful "customer service" people had me check a panel under the battery which turned out to be red. Water damage, they say, and nothing more can be done. Huh??? I've never had this phone wet. "Oh, well humidity in the air can trigger the water indicator." HUH??? Two fights with "supervisors" and tons of frustration later I'm left to deal with it on my own.

I'll tell you one thing... Prior to this I've had cell phones that I put through way more abuse than this one went through and they stayed with me until the end. S.E. Is using this water thing as a cover-up for the awful design in these phones. Sounds like a class-action lawsuit is in order here.
