Best buy reward zone? How about best buy punishment zone!

So it seems that Best Buy has taken up a new policy of punishing its customers for recurrently shopping with them.

About 10 months ago, I purchased a $2,400 flat screen plasma at Best Buy in San Diego, California (Mission Valley). Now, I had the reward zone a while back and it worked fine, so I figured I'd go ahead and buy the membership again so I could get the $80 in gift certificates back from my purchase.

After about 6 months, I realized I had never received my gift certificates. I called Reward Zone and they said I had to make a second purchase to activate my membership, and then I would be able to receive my certificates. I thought this was odd considering I didn't have to do it the last time, but I understand policies change over time, so I made the second purchase.

I called them back with the receipt number of the second purchase. The agent then tells me that my reward zone card was linked to another persons account and that I couldn't receive my certificates until the issue was resolved! So they put in a ticket to have the problem looked at and said they would fix it within 10 business days.

I call back and, of course, nobody had even looked at the ticket. The agent then escalated the ticket and told me to call back in 10 more business days.

I called back and still nothing had been done about the ticket so what does the agent do? Escalate the ticket again.By now, my patience is wearing thin I realized that Reward Zone provides no empowerment to its agents. All the agents can do is escalate tickets, and nothing more.

I called back and the agent has the nerve to tell me, We've looked at the problem and have determined that your account is linked to another persons accountno kidding, that's why the ticket was created in the first place! So, rather than fixing the problem, the agents spent 5 weeks restating it. I was livid, and asked to speak to a manager. He told me that all he could do is escalate the ticket and have me call back in 10 business days.

I could go on-and-on, but will cut it short it has been 3 months since I made the initial request for the certificates and the company still hasn't reached a resolution on their mistake so I'm forced to wait while they figure out what they did wrong. Any descent company would resolve the issue first with their customer, and then resolve it internally otherwise it creates bad blood, as it did in this situation.

Now, I doubt this happens often, but because of the problems I've had with the program and the people running it, I won't be shopping with Best Buy again.
