First Pic Inc filed a 1099 for me as being self employed, although I worked and was micro managed as an employee. Crofton, Maryland

I worked for this company from 06/05/07 - 12/04/07. First Pic Consulting is a company from Marland. They were awarded the Hud contract to QC Public policy for Detroit Public Housing. They hired three employees, me being one of them, supposedly within the company as assistant public policy specialist team leaders. Between the three of us, we never recieved any employment paperwork other than direct deposit forms. I was mislead to believe that I was a first pic employee and would be garaunteed work until the end of the contract. I reported to a supervisor and was micro managed daily. They also recruited about 15 michigan employees from temp agencies.

Initially the contract was supposed to end December 4th. Well it was extended until late June.
Although everyone was dismissed 12/04/07/.

I was never told that I was self employed, and could not claim unemployment benefits. When I asked about the employee paperwork, I was brushed off and told we'd take care of it later. I never thought anything of it until I recieved a 1099 for my wages as being self employed. We were told since it was a government contract that they were exempt and we would have to pay our own taxes. They promised a bonus to compensate us having to pay our own taxes and I still haven't heard any thing from First Pic.
