Charged my debit card WITHOUT my authorization ripoff

I had a pipe leaking in my basement in October. My father & my brother-in-law came over & snaked all of the pipes. There wasn't a clog in any of the pipes, so I called Lenawee Sanitation to have my septic tank emptied. I explained to the secretary that I had a pipe leaking & that my father & brother-in-law had snaked the pipes & it was still leaking. I made an appointment, they came & emptied the septic.

I checked to make sure that the pipe wasn't leaking & it still was. I called Lenawee Sanitation & told the secretary that the pipe was still leaking. She said that she would send someone back over. I asked her if anyone needed to be there because I was leaving for work & she said no, that they could get to it from the septic.

The following day, (Friday) the secretary left a message on my phone while I was at work asking me to call her. I didn't get the message till I got out of work (10pm) so I couldn't call her. The following Monday, she called & said that since I didn't return her call, she just went ahead & charged my card $125.00!! I explained to her that had she TOLD me that I was going to be charged for them coming back out, I would have called other companies or bought a snake.

She LAUGHED at me & said, "Do you think we would do this for free?" I told her that I assumed that since I had ALREADY paid $168.00 & the pipe was STILL leaking, that I wasn't going to be charged again. She laughed again & told me that those are two separate jobs. I'm sorry, but I don't know a whole lot about septics, but since the reason that I called them in the first place was because of the leak in the basement, I figured they would make sure it wasn't leaking.

I told this secretary that it was illegal for her to charge something on my debit card without authorization. Again she laughed. I filed a report with the FCC, because it IS illegal! I talked to the manager of the company AND the owner and BOTH of them told me "She put it back in your account". I said that it was STILL illegal & they tried to justify it by saying she returned it. I said that'd be like me STEALING from someone but because I gave the money back, I DIDN'T steal it!

After I got this bill from them, I called pretending to be a customer & asked them the price for cleaning lines. The secretary told me there is a $50.00 service fee. If they clean ONE line, it costs $85.00. I asked if they charge by the hour & she said they don't. Why are they charging ME $125.00 & putting 1 1/2 hours on the bill if the cost is $85.00 & they DON'T charge by the hour? I asked them about this & they couldn't come up with an answer. I have NO problem paying them $35.00. (One line: $85.00 minus the $50.00 service charge since they had already been there that SAME day.)

I had also stopped in the office to dispute this & the man who actually did the line was there & LIED! First, he said that he left a bill with my son & that he was there for 2 1/2 hours! Well, when they dug out the bill, it WASN'T signed, which meant that he DIDN'T leave a bill & it also said 1 1/2 hours NOT 2 1/2!! (Which I don't understand WHY that matters if they DON'T cahrge by the hour!)

I would caution ANYONE who uses this company to be VERY leary about giving them your card number. To be VERY safe, DON'T use this company at all!
