Ripoff! They have their SCAM down PAT! How many others has this happened too

Be aware renting a storage unit from Coldwell Banker and paying in advance... They'll go to any extreme to keep your money. No, it's not a lot of money, $36.00, but it adds up after hundreds maybe thousands of people. I am from Alaska disabled and went to AZ for the winter. I was visiting in Kingman and needed a storage unit so, I rented one from Coldwell Banker.

I delt with, Janis Sharp, who conveniently hasn't worked there since Dec 29,05 (or so she says). I mailed her a check around 10 days before Jan rent was due. On Dec. 24,05 (X-mas Eve day) I went and got my things and it being the holiday weekend waited to call her on Dec. 27,05 (I left a message and Janis returned my call that afternoon, saved on my cell phone).

I told her my things were out and this was my 5 day notice to also get my deposit of $10.00 back. I also said, just tear up my check or send it to the PO Box I had rented in AZ City. Janis said, they would wait till my check cleared and send me a refund (starting the scam).

I touched base with her by email the 3rd or 4th of Jan. 06 with no reply. Thinking she was a person of her word I didn't think to much about it till almost a month went by with no refund. I sent her another email (I have copies of all) and told her, if I din't hear from her by the end of the week I was going to write NRT in NJ which is the Corporate Office and on Jan. 28,06, I did (I have copy of letter).

That was a Sat and on Mon the 30 I received an email from Janis telling me, she no longer works there (how convenient) and everything had been turned over to, Michelle Kerr and Walt Baker along with their email addresses and the race is ongoing.

According to Michelle, she mailed a refund check to my PO Box in AZ City on Feb 1,06.

I am no longer in AZ and I have put a change of address in, which has been another horror story and had to file a complaint with Consumer Affairs in Phoenix. Even with the change in it doesn't take 3 wks to get mail. With the problems I had with my mail. I called her bluff and asked Michelle to send me a copy of the check she sent, just in case my mail had been stolen? Needless to say, she is quit upset (there wasn't a check to begin with) and can't understand why I want a copy. I had also, asked her to cancel the old check and send me a new one to me in CA, we'll see?

What this boils down to is, they didn't figure I would pursue this over $36.00. They had no intentions of refunding my money to begin with. It's not the point of the $36.00, I have been lied to and ripped off and I am sure they have did it to many people.
