I ordered & paid for my future step-daughters dress over the phone from the David's Bridal store in Memphis, TN. When I went to pick it up about two weeks later I signed a receipt showing it had been picked up but was not given an actual receipt. I also asked the sales lady if their would be any problems exchanging it if it didn't fit my step-daughter and the sales lady said "no". A month later she finally tried on the dress and it was a little tight up top, so we took it back to see if we could exchange it. Of course, I didn't have the pickup slip with me and I never received a receipt. The woman that "helped" us first said if I had the receipt I could exchange it for another dress. I told her I didn't have the receipt and she acted like I was an idiot. She kept insisting & arguing with me that anywhere you shop you have to have the receipt to make exchanges. I make EXCHANGES (not returns) all the time at Macy's, Stein Mart, Dillard's, etc. And never have any problems with those stores. I would completely understand her point if I was trying to return the dress or wanted to exchange it for another style of dress, but all I wanted was the exact same dress in another size. If no exchanges or returns are the store policy then why was she going to let me exchange it if I could provide a receipt? And why did the sales lady that helped me at the time of pickup act like exchanges were no big deal. Finally, fed up with her rude and argumentative attitude I asked who the store manager was and she said "that would be me" and did a little wave while smirking. I understand if that's the store policy but the way she handled the situation was completely unprofessional. I will never shop there again. Plus, I'm a wedding coordinator and I will definately not be recommending David's Bridal to any customers.
