Craft-Bilt Manufacturing Company Glass Warranty Not Honored

Betterliving Sunrooms does not honor its glass warranty any longer. We paid $61,000 in 2001 for a Betterliving sunroom. The construction is excellent. The contract states that there is a lifetime warranty on the glass. We have 41 windows including the patio door.in 2005 or 2006 the outside pane of a sliding window shattered for no apparent reason. I happened to be sitting next to it at the time so I know nothing hit it. When I tried to contact the local Betterliving Sunrooms dealer I learned that the dealer went out of business shortly after completing our sunroom. I contacted Betterliving Sunrooms headquarters and they said since they had no dealer in my area I should get two estimates from local glass companies and submit the estimates to them. One estimate was for $125 and one was for $155. I did not trust the $125 company after seeing the shoddy condition of there vehicle and personnel. Didn't matter, Betterliving Sunrooms would only reimburse me $90 of the cost. Fast forward to June. Another sliding window shattered for no apparent reason. This time Betterliving Sunrooms, after confirming that there was still no dealer in our area, in essence, refused to honor their warranty. I say "in essence" because they said they would ship a new window to me but I had to pay the shipping and the shipping had to be by dedicated truck because they could not ship it by UPS. They estimated the shipping cost to be $450 to $500 and had to have the funds up front before they would ship the replacement window. I asked if they would reimburse me $90 like they did in 6 and they said no. The local glass company replaced it for $167. At least I am fortunate to have excellent construction and just have to worry about the glass breakage.
