Carpet seam unraveled after basement installation

I had a berber-type carpet installed in my finished basement. When I went to vacuum the carpet in two different locations, directly on the seam, the carpet unraveled right into the vacuum. I sent them a complaint and pictures of the damage, and they sent a form letter back stating that if it is a "pull," then it is not their fault. It is not a pull; the seam was improperly installed, and I had a carpet expert take a look at it.
