Empire Home Warranty FAIL! Scam! Stay away!

I purchased a 110-yr old home in rural TN in and bought the home warranty for $580. My water heater started to leakin August, so I fileda claim. Empire selected a contractor who just showed up with a new water heater and started installing it. During that installation, the rude and disrespectful customer service agent "diagnosed" the cause of water heater leak over the phone - miraculous by any standards. He denied the claim and I had to write a $780 check to the plumber right then.

I complained to Empire Home Warranty customer service in September and was immediately assured that I would be given the full contract price refund of $580 to settle my grievance. I was told in writing more than five times by the Regional Supervisor "Brad" that my check was "in the mail." As of February no check has arrive. Imagine that. This company should be put out of business.

I am suing them in small claims court. DO NOT use Empire Home Warranty!
