Emerson Electric Lifetime Warranty is a absolute lie

I paid $189 plus tax for a Ridgid sewage pump for my laundry only sump. My standard True Value sump gave out after 20 years of service. I figured the sewage pump wouldn't clog with lint and would ultimately last longer with less trouble. This pump only gets used when we do laundry or when the water softener re-generates. So I was surprised when after eight years the pump failed to start and the sump over flowed.

I got out the pump's manual with receipt and went online to find a repair authorized facility. I called expecting to have the pump fixed under the lifetime warranty. I was told by their authorized person, that as far as Ridgid is concerned, if the pump worked for any length of time, any failure is wear and tear and not covered under the lifetime warranty.

I then contacted Ridgid to complain and I was told the same thing. I then threatened to raise a stink about this. Then another unidentified person from Ridgid emailed and told me to send my pump in for evaluation. Since they didn't identify themselves or anything else about the sender, I decided not to send it in fearing it would become "lost" or something else. I replied with an offer for them to send me a new one and I'd then send mine in for repair. Beside's I don't have a box to put it in. I also offered to send photos and a copy of my reciept to prove I owned one of there pumps. I have gotten no replies since.

In my opinion, if the pump did not last as long as lessor pump, it was poorly designed or a component is faulty which should be covered by the lifetime warranty.By comparison, if you walk into Sears with a broken Craftsman tool they will give you a new one period.

Ridgid seems to want the sales that having " lifetime warranty " printed on the box might bring but they don't stand behind it. If Ridgid blames normal wear and tear for evrything, what does lifetime warranty mean?
