Defects on Home Built by Doud Builders, Bloomington

Purchased home built by Doud Builders, PO Box 1524, Bloomington, IL 61702.in 2007. Bill Doud claimed he had 15-years experience as a home builder and we purchased the home based on his years of experience.

The home was full of defects upon taking ownership: No load bearing wall installed under 2nd floor supporting wall but shown in Blueprints filed with City of Bloomington, this resulted in the kitchen floor sagging 3/4" and several ceramic tile in hall cracked. The concrete workmanship was defective on the driveway and sidewalks causing surfaces to breakdown and popout. The A/C pad sank 4" in the back leaving A/C unlevel. Concrete will have to be torn out and replaced to fix problem.

The builder installed ground level windows in the basement 2" above grade with no window wells or drainage leaving the basement at risk for water seepage and will have to be fixed with proper drainage. The grade above sewer in front of the home sank 12" and had to be fixed by homeowner.

Multiple defects found with drywall and painted surfaces where drywall split, cracked then sagged. (Builder has fixed these items at his expense) The 1-Year new home warranty was useless and filed suite against builder for damages and expenses to repair defects. Settlement pending after 1-year of litigation.
