I used ADT for years. It started off pretty good. But after a while when the alarm went off I never got a call back. Now I am a person who rarely has false alarms. If it does happen it usually if out of town guest come over, but other then that never. Maybe 3 a year at the most.

One day I was at a friend of mine house and their alarm went off and no one called. I asked them about that and they actually forgot they were suppose to call. Well I said that is why you are paying that monitoring fee. So I decided to go home and intentionally breach the alarm to see what happened. Nothing. So I called ADT and asked them why they never called back to see if anything was going on.

The first answer they gave is that the police departments of sick of false alarms. Well I told them let the police take it up with the homeowner. We pay for you to monitor calls on your end not to assume what is false or not.

I told them I rarely breach the alarm and the cops never complained to me. And that my father is a cop so I would never be so careless. Well finally the truth came out It seems ADT no longer has local monitoring stations.

I live in NY and the one they used for my area was in Florida. I suspect it is a cost cutting method not to make long distance calls more then trying to help the police departments and false alarms.

I since switched to a local alarm company and no problems what so ever. And the price is better. Look to see where the monitoring call stations are before investing in a alarm company it could be a matter of life or death.
