Ripoff! Substandard work, working outside scope of license

Randy Ronk Ripped Me Off!!! He contracted to paint my house and replace the roof on an add-on room. He sent staff out, he never came to the job site while work was in progress. The kid who was doing the roof told me it was his last day on the job.

They painted over lots of dry rot.

Long story short... The roof leaked badly. Ronk then came out and tried to repair it but made a bigger mess. He refused to do anything else. I took the case to the Calif State Contractors License Board. They inspected the damage and awarded me the cost of replacing the roof. Ronk signed a promissory note but never paid the full amount. He only made one payment on time, the rest of his little $50.00 payments dribbled in over time.

I finally got someone to repair the roof. It cost more than the award because 2 winters had passed with the roof leaking. The wood had lots of rot and much of it had to be replaced due to the long delay.

I wrote Ronk a letter requesting the rest of the money he owes me and he is now refusing to pay because he was apparantly in bankruptcy on the date he signed the promissory note.
