Used sofa sold as new, return took a lawyer's letter

I bought a sofa at Aaron's rental. The salesman told me it was new. I told the salesman I did not want used. The salesman and the manager told me the item to be delivered was new. I have several years of experience in the furniture business, so I know the differences in quality of furniture as well as how some companies try to hide flaws and fixes.

When the sofa was delivered, they quickly dropped it off and left. With the delivery people gone, I began to inspect the sofa. It took me less than 2 minutes to realize this sofa was not new. There were stains in some areas, as well as spots that were re-sewn and faded areas. It was not even in good used condition. It was absolutely terrible.

I looked over the paperwork, and it clearly showed this was to be a new sofa. When I called the store to have it returned, they told me I had purchased the used one and that they had the tags. I informed them that my contract states new.

It took an official letter from a lawyer to get them to take the sofa back. At that point they tried to get me to exchange it for a different product. That really upset me, and I told them I would not buy from a company that intentionally lies to its customers.
