Ripoff refuses to back up there prduct unless you bought there warranty

I purchased a dvd/vhs combo player it went out 4 months after I purchased it. The Vhs started eating my tapes. I took the player in on 5-14-05 and they refussed to help me due to the fact that I did not purchase there personal warranty of which I was not ask to do so. The sales man told me that I had a year warranty if anything went wrong. I wrote the coorporation and they only sent the email to Mark Cooper which did nothing for me but brush it off to Heather that then called Allen Shepard and told her that nothing could be done. Since this insident I have spoken to a lot of customers that say that Conn's is no longer like it used to be. Wal-mart on the other had stands behind every product they sale without an extended purchase of a warranty..
