DirecTV loyalty rewards aren't free

Due to financial reasons I had to cancel my account with DirecTV. I was told I had a refund coming and was issued a check for the $9.27 left on my balance. The next month I suddenly received a bill for a pay per view movie that I had watched as a loyalty gift many months prior. I never use PPV and never would have except that I had been sent this voucher in the mail saying I had a free movie for being such a loyal customer. I followed all their directions about redeeming it and everything.

So I was pretty mad about this when I got the bill. I was a customer for 7 years straight, never paid late. I got the runaround from billing and finally got put on to the department manager who was extremely condescending but finally "this one time only" agreed to refund the money I didn't owe in the first place.

Furthermore, the hard sell tactics that they made me go through when I wanted to cancel my account were pretty egregious. Makes me glad I cancelled now.
