HP told me my 2 year old printer "too old" - Customer Service

My 2.5 year old Color Laserjet 2840 is experiencing "scanner error 2", so I called to find a repair location. Customer service told me that because it is "so old", there are no repair locations within a 90 mile radius. Since I live in a major US city (Tucson AZ) I was surprised, but assumed there would be another option (e.G. Mail it in). NOPE! They won't even tell me over the phone if there is a way to bypass the scanner error message to use the printer function because it's out of warranty. Essentially, a customer service supervisor admitted that 1) they won't help me in any way, 2) the repair will be very costly, and 3) my printer is now nothing more than an expensive piece of junk. My recommendation: NEVER BUY AN HP!
