Using VAC bans to force users into repurchases

Computers & Services

I decided to play Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 one evening to come across the error message "You have been VAC banned. You cannot play ONLINE."

I have posted a ticket with Steam asking for a reason for my sudden VAC ban from the Black Ops 2 games, but so far I have received no reply. I doubt I will receive a reply because part of the VAC ban is that Valve will not disclose what cheats were used or when. This favors Valve rather nicely as they do not have any evidence of me hacking or cheating.
I do not hack and I never have hacked. I have posted a discussion in the Steam forums stating this and asking about VAC ban removal. The discussion started to raise some questions, but before I could post questions that would definitely mix things up even more an administrator locked the discussion blocking any more comments from being added.
