Deposit means nothing

My family and I went into this dealership to look for a truck. We found one, loved it, test drove it. Brought it to our mechanic for inspection. Left a deposit, waited for financing to come through... Finally got a text message to come in and sign the papers for the loan and the salesman informs us the truck has been sold to someone else. What does deposit mean to you? I think this is totally illegal. This dealership Cannot be trusted and they will sell their soul to make a sale. Unfortunately, they are snakes. Never go there... They waited until we came in to tell us they sold it a few days ago.
