Dishonest, Incompetent, and Scammers! Don't Go Here - End up Costing You More to Go Some Place Else to Fix their Work!

I took my Honda Civic to Japanese Car Care (JCC) today because a friend recommended it as the place to take japanese cars. JCC claimed to be a very honorable and reputatable place and used all new OEM parts in its work. I was quoted $505 for a timing belt replacement. I asked several times for a written estimate and they refused saying that was against their policy. I later found out that was illegal and the State of Florida require a written estimate be provided for work costing over $100.

Then the mechanic breaks a coverplate and say if I wanted them to fix it, they would charge me an additional $25. I was like the timing belt area has never been taken apart, how can the coverplate be be broken. Then I was told again, if you want it fixed, it would cost you an additional $25. I was like forget, put back the part broken.

In the end when I went to pay the bill, they added an additional $11. I asked what that was for and that was not the quote I was given. I was told that it was shop fees which is taxes required by Dade County. I said I don't think so and he insisted it was required by law. I paid the fee and left. When I went home and did some online research, "shop fee" is not a tax required by Dade County. It's an extra fee the shop wants to charge.

Afterward, within a month time, my car had metal grinding noise, loss of power, slow accleration, the big puddle of liquid under my... Parked car, and now there was white smoke coming from the engine. Also, the A/C was not cooling like it use to. I attempted to contact the owner, but the company only responded to a negative review on Yelp.com. Apparently they only cared about the image of its reputation and not necessary living up to it. The owner responded that I should pay them to cover the towing and that was fair to them. I told them I should not have to incur for any additional cost for their work that was apparently done wrong. My car had never had any problems before it was taken in to JCC. And now all of a sudden all of these problems occurred. The owner attempted to blame it on the car being old, the battery being bad, or whatever else.

The company denies being responsible even after I found out one of the belts they put in was for a Porsche. I have a Honda by the way and the belt was not interchangable - too big for the Honda. Like a shoe that's too big and trying to stuff tissues in it to fit, but they still forced it to fit.

After over a month of going back and forth with JCC to be responsible for the work, I had to take my car some place else. I have no other car and trying to drive a car with smoke coming out of the engine was not only bad for the car to cause more damage, but also very unsafe. One shop replaced the alternator belt which is also the same belt for the A/C. But it did not have the tool to redo the timing belt work which also was attached with the water pump. Another place (a Honda dealership) redid the work for the timing belt and water pump. The water pump was not OEM.in addition to that, it appeared to be a used water pump.

This place relies on illegal and deceptive practices to do their business. Uses incorrect and inferior parts. Can't be trusted. They had other negative reviews and the owner, Denise Nunez, responds to them stating they were not real customers or the person must have the wrong place. There is alot of denial and avoidance of responsibility from this place. They also appear to give themselves alot of fake positive reviews to pump up their own ratings or hide negative reviews for some review sites that have that option.
