Ripoff bought new chevy s-10 for safe ride to dialysis, over 30 times in service & still nothing

Cars & Transport

I knew I was about to go on dialysis and I live on Social Security Disability so I purchased a new 1999 in March. Dialysis is pure torchure and I had to have safe and trouble free transportation driving 180 miles a week to dialysis. My family tried to force me into a Ford and I fought them all the way into my new Chevy, the biggest nightmare in my life.

I have a record of over 30 times in for service. Every time I went in it would take the guy for ever to read all my service problems. I never went in for service for only one problem. Each time I went in for service I complained of flooding on back floor every rain (I'm in South Florida with daily storms.) intermitant speedometer, odometer, gas gauge warning lights, whole electrical panel basically, passenger seat wouldn't lock in place and bad speakers. I complained about all these matters most of the over 30 times into the repair shop.

I'll never forget going in one last time the first week of March days before the end of my warranty. As I got out of my truck, the manager (Al?) looked at me and said "We can't help you. There's nothing we can do" before I said a word. After about 10-12 of the times I had the truck in for service, they finally fixed the seat. They replaced several windows along with new rubber door strips tring to stop the back floor flooding to no avail. They said it was not possible to repair the electrical problem without it happening in front of them. Finally, it happened one day a couple years ago with a manager named Jack in my truck with me. HURRAY! Not.

I continued coming in for repair until after my warranty date to no avail. I drive 180 to dialysis with almost never having a speedometer and I also ran out of gas a few weeks ago after dialysis because my gas gauge has never worked. Last month, I was driving by the Chevy dealer (Roger Dean) and my electrical system was not working so I pulled in even though my warranty has expired. They kept my truck to look at over night which I thought was nice.

The following day, I was told my "cluster" was dead and it would cost about $500 just for the part. I said, "Didn't you replace that a long time ago?" He said "Yes, but we gave you a bad cluster and you need a new one." I was flabergasted. So, here I sit trying to stay alive on dialysis.

After over 30 times in for service and I rarely have a speedometer, gas gauge or anything electric on the panel, we are coming in to the heavy rain season and I will spend the summer with a flooded back floor that gets to realy stinking so bad it will make you puke, literally. I have given up hope on the radio but it sure is dangerous driving with no speedometer. God help me.
