Refuse to repair blown Silverado truck engine with only 37,000 miles Ripoff

In early June '05 the engine in my Silverado began making a noise. I called Langs Chevolet and they rudely said it was out of warranty and there was nothing they could do. Another Chevrolet dealership, Schmitt's, did say to bring in truck. They said engine was blown and gave us number for a factory rep. So in early June I call a H. Humphrey, GM factory rep and he was able to offer nothing. He even failed to return a call twice to me after he established a specific date and time to return the calls! I finally become disgusted and requested another rep. A GM rep named Steve got on this and within 4 days he had an offer from the factory of a 50% cost or $3,000.

He said since the car was out of warranty this was the best GM could do. It only took from early June to mid September to get to a 50% offer!

What really bothers me is that a friend of mine bought a Ford truck a little after I bought the Chevy truck.in early June '05 the rear end went out of his truck. The service manager at the Ford dealership called the factory rep himself and within a few days the Ford factory rep agreed to repair the rear end with a cost of only $168 to my friend. His truck too was out of warranty and had only about 27,000 miles on it. I also bought a Cougar secondhand and its engine blew. The Ford factory paid for the towing charge and replaced the entire engine FREE OF CHARGE!

Something is definitely wrong when all the service maintenance had been performed on a Chevy truck and the engines blows with only 37,000 miles. I have bought Chevolets for many years but for now on it will be Fords. I think I'll get a sign that reads, "Ford is still number one, even when the warranty is done. But alas for Chevolet, when the warranty is done, I hate to say, they want more money or send you away!"
