Sold a vehicle that stinks like a dead person and refused return of vehicle

I am a victim of the fabled "72 hour cooling off period". I purchased a used truck that I knew in advance smelled funny. While driving home the smell kept getting worse to the point where it neearly made me physically ill. I called early the next morning to say I wanted to return the car. They asked me to come in to discuss the problem. A few minutes after I arrived, I learned that the "72 hour coooling off period" was nothing more than a myth.
I appealed to their sense of decency, since it had only been a matter of hours since I purchased the vehicle, but they are after all "Used Car Salesman". They advised me that I had no legal right to cancel the contract and said they would "try" to get the smell out or find me a comparable vehicle. They refused to cancel the deal. I just looked back through all the paperwork I signed and could not find any "all sales are final" statements or similar wording.
It ought to be a law that dealerships nationwide have to tell customers there is no "72 hour cooling off period"
I hate dealing with Car Dealerships!
