Clay Cooley Buick Pontiac GMC
Misrepresentation for financing

Cars & Transport

On February 3 at 6:45 pm, I arrived at Clay Cooley and met with a salesman. After looking around at what they had to offer, I filled out an application for financing of a vehicle. I traded in my 2007 GMC Sierra 1500 WT. About 15 minutes later, he stated all looked good and we went to the finance department. After meeting with the finance department, I was handed keys to a 2010 GMC Sierra 1500 SLE. I was told by the finance manager that all paper work was good and I signed the contract and wrote a check for a $500 down payment and was never given a copy of the contract. I was told to enjoy the vehicle and to call back with any questions or concerns. They also stated they would be in contact with me once the tags to the vehicle arrived and get a copy of the contract.

After two weeks, I called the dealership to find out if everything was ok and to get a copy of the contract. At that time, I was informed that the salesman that handled my deal was no longer employed there and they could not find certain pages of my file.information such as proof of income, credit history, and personal financial information. At that time they advised me if I wanted to remain in the vehicle I would have to resubmit all previous information and an additional $500 down for a total of $1000.00. After speaking with a new finance manager, he stated everything was ok and to continue driving the truck and he would look into the situation.

After having the vehicle for a full month, I received a call on March 3 that I needed to bring back the vehicle because they were having problems financing it and asked the I bring in an additional $500 for a total now of $1500. I told the finance manager that was not part of the deal and I would return the vehicle on March 4. On the morning of March 4, they stated the vehicle needed to be detailed and inspected to be put back on the line since it could not be financed. At that time I demanded that they return my $500 down payment and my 2007 GMC 1500 WT. Come to find out I was not the only victim of this particular scam. There were at least 5 over people that had experienced this due to dealing with this salesman.

After being there about 9 hours, they did give me back my down payment and my truck. Some of the other people were not so lucky. This type of practice from a dealerships should not be allowed. Because of this, I have had to contact the credit bureaus and put a fraud alert on my credit reports. I have no idea what this person intends to do with my personal information. Please stay away. I would not want this to happen to anyone else.
