I had a car that needed carburator work. I was told that it would be $150.00 to $200.00 for a rebuild job. We needed the car for vacation and when I called him about the car, he said that it would be a bit more. I called, he did not call to tell us that it would cost more. At this time the cost was $300.00 to $325.00.

I was upset because I had told the man before I brought the car in that I could get a new carburator for $295.00 and did not want to go over that amount for a rebuild job. When I picked up the car the total was $485.00. The man insisted on cash, no check or credit card. The problem I brought the car in for was not fixed and I had to take it to someone else to get it ro run decent. I had to buy the new carburator anyway in order to get the car to run right.

When I contacted the man he offered to check the car our again but he said it ran fine when it was picked up. He also said the cost was within the range of $450.00 to $500.00 he quoted. When I stated that he had quoted $150.00 to $200.00 he said "No way did I say that. I am a factory trained mechanic and deserve at least $45.00 per hour to work on anyones car".
