Refund of credit balance

I have been working with American Express to get a refund on my credit balance and due to incompetence in the customer service department, I still do not have my refund and the account has been closed for 6 months. Two refunds checks have been mailed, but they keep sending them to an old address after repeatedly giving them my correct address. It might not be much money for AMEX, but it is a lot of money to me and it is causing me great problems. They have not shown any concern for my situation and have not done anything to attempt to speed up the process. I am a very unhappy customer that is suffering at the hands of American Express.
