Rebuilt my motor, its knocking, 2500.00 worth, now for a additional 650 he'll fix it

This supposed to be friend of mine rebuilt the motor in my 88 cadillac. It took him 2 months to do it, only working between beers. I first got it back with a horrible exhaust leak, and as I voiced my concerns he said he would get to it but at a later date. I then noticed a noise coming from the bottom end [main bearings] with not even 300 miles on it and 2500.00 tied up in it, I decided to drop it off because of the noise. He then has one of his drinking buddies call me and tell me for an additional 650 he would put a crank kit in it. Now this is after he's had the car for 3 weeks. He puts a thicker oil in it, but to no avail its still knocking
