UPS stores are not UPS stores - package delivery

Another UPS nightmare— According to UPS I had to sign for a particular package. I was unable to do so within the 3 try limit.

I called UPS and asked them to deliver it to a UPS store. I was told that they are not really UPS stores and I would need to pick up my package 20 miles away.

For each possible solution, I was told by the rep. "we're very sorry sir about your inconvenience but we cannot do anything about it." I even suggested that they could tranship it another more convenient holding "depot." Same automatic response.

The UPS stores are "faux" stores actually run as franchises. They will not as a rule take packages unless you are willing to pay an additional fee (even then, that may not be assured). Although you can access them via UPS and UPS clearly differentiates them from their service centers associated with Staples, et al., they do not indicate that they are limited service franchisees.

It's sad to see UPS cover their derriers while screwing their customers.
