Geico's client lost control of his SUV on an icy road when the light turned red and he hit his brakes to avoid hitting the car in front of him. His SUV jumped over the median and landed on top my pregnant wife's hood. Wife was very shaken and had a bruise on her knee. We called State Farm and they stated they could process our claim minus our deductible. They said that Geico already was ahead of them slightly in processing and there would be no deductible if we made our claim through Geico. We went with Geico since it was no cost to us and they seem to have a head start on it. Took a week to get connected with the adjustor (Dennis Franks). Took 2 weeks to before he was able to get all the processing completed and come over to our house to write us a check for $4,700. We were shocked at this low amount as our car was PAID OFF and in great documented condition! We told him that the cheapest similiar replacement for the vehicle was $5,000 before sales tax, etc. He said the car was selling for $4,400 but yet he could not show us how the number was calculated. We told him we will be content with $5,000. He stated that he will need to talk to his supervisor. He then left and we had to hunt him back down almost 2 weeks later to find out what his supervisor said. Dennis told us that his supervisor will not honor our request. We then paid State Farm our deductible and State Farm offered us a settlement of $5,700! We are now currently fighting with Geico to get reimbursed for $300 in storage costs of the car when it was in their possession during their claim processing.
