I chose the MORE EXPENSIVE car w/navigation. It is broken after 4 months. They are replacing but could take 6 weeks DUE TO BACKORDER AND THEY HAVE NO IDEA OF THE ESTIMATED TIME OF ARRIVAL OF THE UNITS. I said fine but I need to have a portable unit while I wait, The service dealer refused to help and Hyundai corporate said it is not their problem so i am paying for an expensive car but i am driving a car that has base model features.
Turnersville Auto Mall-Servicing dealer -NJ said they cannot help me out with a portable unit that i needed to contact the selling dealership. The selling dealership-Pacifico Hyundai, Pa said they cannot help me because i am getting the car serviced somewhere else closer to my home.
Hyundai corporate said they are not contractually able to give me a portable unit or a car with a navigation unit or money to purchase a navigation unit. They said it is unfortunate the unit broke so soon but it is my problem until they are able to get the part in to fix it.
How could a huge company like HYUNDAI not have navigation units in stock? Did they stop making new cars? The best thing about this story is i called another dealership in NJ and i said i wanted to purchase a navigation unit for my car and they told me the unit can be installed in 5 days-SO IF YOU ARE PAYING FOR IT THE NAVIGATION UNITS SOMEHOW ARE NOT ON BACKORDER!
Summary: I WOULD LIKE THEM TO MAKE THE SITUATION RIGHT. If i wanted a base model without navigation i would have bought one of those. But i spent more money to have the unit and if it does not work they should be jumping through hoops to provide at minimum a portable navigation unit.in this day and age how can there be a backorder on navigation units for a car anyway but even if their is i should not have to tolerate the situation when i am paying for a more expensive vehicle that does not have all of its working parts.

my 2000 sonata was declared a lemon under the law so i should have take my own experience and not purchased another one 9 years later. They make any problems your problems. They will fix it eventually the problem but will not provide you anything for the inconvenience it may cause in your life especially when i planned a vacation and had to cancel because we do not have a navigation unit that we thought we would have working at least the 1st year of driving, but it is apparent they do not care about the consumer. Do not buy a Hyundai vehicle if you do not like to be inconvenienced!
