Deceptive and predatory sales and a no refund policy?

On July 8 my 80 year old mother was called to warn her about her expiring warranty on a 2002 Mercury Grand Marquis. She already had purchased another policy from a different scam warranty company in March. Upon learning of her situation on May 4th of 2009 I called Auto One to cancel her policy. Their rep Anthony was very rude and told me that I needed to mail them a letter or send a fax to cancel the policy. That afternoon a fax was sent. Later I researched the company and found this site with the "horror stories" of repair denials and a policy of promising refunds and not sending them.
Calls and letters to numerous agencies in Florida led to Seniors s Crime which works under the Fl. State Attorney General's Office. They are very interested in this case. If you are having problems in Florida, you may want to contact them through their website or that of the Atty General's website.
As I expected "George" has promised a refund in 10-12 weeks. I advised him that would not be satisfactory and he has 10 days.
Also in researching Florida State statutes, I came across a statute that addresses telemarketing calls. It basically states that a contract initiated by a telemarketer is not finalized until they send out a copy of the contract that states all terms and costs of the contract and it is signed and returned to them. Also, if the contract is not signed and returned they have NO right to any funds period. This applies to any telemarketer sale in Florida. Perhaps this will help someone else also.
I am awaiting a full return from Auto One. I will post when I hear from them or the Attorney General's Office.
