I purchased a car in 2004. The salesperson told me that if I purchased the full warranty for $1,800 that I would receive a refund of the full amount if we did not use the warranty prior to the contract running out. A week after the purchase I called the salesperson and asked them for a copy of the policy. They stated that they do not actually file the policy unless there is a problem with the car. If I needed to make a claim I would need to contact them and they would call the insurance company, file the policy, and I could then make a claim within 24 hours.

It is now 2008. My car has reached the 75,000 mark and the contract is now void. Right before the contract ran out I called the insurance company who backs the policy and gave them the policy number. They stated that the policy was not in my name and I could not file a claim. They also would not give me the name of the person who was on the policy. I called John Ferraro in customer service and have spent three months going back and forth with no definitive answer to date. I even wrote them back in November and asked for an official stance in writing within 20 days or I was going to report them to the BBB, the Attorney General and the State Insurance Department. The BBB was notified last week. We'll see what happens now.

I believe that they never file the policies. They hold onto the money and make interest off of it. If there is an actual problem they have the dealership take care of it instead of the insurance company (who denies things anyway). When the policy is void they disappear with the money and state that you have no right to collect it.

Terrible communication, no record keeping at this dealership, and customer service and follow up is atrocious!
