Georgia Cycle Depot
Owner Ian Kennedy sold me a motorcycle in June. The ad said fresh engine, new cables, rebuilt carbs. And clutch, new wiring, etc. I drove the bike 40 miles with numerous breakdowns and finally the rods seized to the crankshaft

I purchased a 1965 Triumph T120R motorcycle from Georgia Cycle Depot in June. This was supposed to be a rebuilt motorcycle, with engine rebuilt, rewired electrically and many new parts.

I drove the motorcycle 24 miles when the points assembly failed and the battery shorted. I replaced these items and drove another 16 miles and the engine seized. I notified Georgia Cycle Depot of the situation. Mr Kennedy informed me "he learned a long time ago it was not his responsibility to make the customer happy, but he would look at the engine if I would ship it to him".

He also stated he did not know when he would get to it. I was not about to ship him a component as valuable as the engine with matching serial number, and to the individual that did a poor job working on it already. I had Dick's Cycle repair do work and had the machine work done by another local shop recommended by Dick's Cycle.

The connecting rods seized to the crankshaft, the cylinders were never machined to fit the pistons, the crankshaft was never cleaned, the valves were worn out, the valve seats were bad and had to be ground to center the seats, both camshafts were scored. That is most of what repair work was discovered. I feel I should be re-imbursed for parts and machine work: approximately $2,500. I do not seek cost of labor as Mr. Kennedy did offer, but I would have been a fool to allow him to touch the engine again.

I reported this incident to Better Business Bureau and they closed the case after a 30 day no response. 60 days later they opened it again because Georgia Cycle Depot finally responded. They gave me 7 days to respond, which I did. I did not see an attempt by the Georgia Cycle Depot to reach a resolution, instead I saw a letter of justification is what I wrote to BBB.

I offered to send documentation to BBB, but I did not see where Georgia Cycle Depot was interested in seeing any. BBB closed the case, when I offered again to send documentation I did not hear back from Barbara Ward the dispute resolution counselor.
