Enterprise Rent-a-car
Illegitimate damage claims, consumer fraud, misrepresntation

Cars & Transport

I was pressured to purchase damage waiver and liability insurance when renting from Enterprise but I refused.

The rental agent walked with me around the car for a cursory inspection; no visible signs of damage (this never happens at Hertz, National, or Avis).

On return, I went to fuel up the car; the exterior fuel compartment cover came off in my hand when I opened it. The cover was propped up on the hinge so it appeared ok when looking at it. The rental office was closed for business when I returned the car at 6pm (it is inside a dealership) so I placed the fuel cover inside the car and locked the car.

The next morning, when I spoke to an Enterprise rep he informed me that I will be responsible and he will pass the matter on to the Loss Control Office and I would have to deal with them.

About two months or so later I was sent a demand to pay $240; I was unsuccessful in resolving the matter so Enterprise Loss Control Administrator Archana Soares went behind my back and filed the claim with my Insurance company (it was listed on the rental agreement) and informed them that she had my permission.
