Enterprise claims damage to rental car left at dealership

Just read about an incident that was reported yesterday in Westminster, MD on this site. I experienced the EXACT same problem. I took my brand new vehicle in for service. Turned out to be a defective part that was on back order. The dealer arranged for Enterprise to pick me up at the dealership and take me to their office in another dealership across the street.
Enterprise pressed hard for me to pay an additional $17.00 per day for loss damage waiver, which I declined.
When I returned to pick up my vehicle at the dealership, it was late in the evening. The dealer told me to leave the rental car with them and that Enterprise would pick it up the next morning. The next day, Enterprise called to say that the car had been "keyed". Since I know where the car was parked while I had it, there is no way it was keyed while in my possession and it is highly unlikely it was keyed at the dealership.
I received a bill for $1,242.72.
This is intentional fraud. When discussing with my insurance company, they indicated this happens a lot with Enterprise. They also said that they recommend that you NEVER return a car without getting confirmation from Enterprise that the car is returned in the same condition. So, don't leave it with the dealer overnight. You will be ripped off!
