Cars & Transport

My wife had purchased a car from Drive Time back in the summer of not because her credit was really bad - but because they had the perfect car for her. She put down $4000 on the car in a program where you got your down payment back ($2000 limit) if you paid the car off. Well, she had changed jobs and filled out the paperwork required to change her pay dates and was told it would get taken care of. When we went in to make our next payment on our new payment date we were informed that we were late on our last payment. We did eventually get it worked out that we weren't late, but we had lost out on the down-payment back option.

That isn't the only problem we have had. It turns out that it wouldn't have mattered if we were able to get that money back, my wife had a car accident and the car was totaled out. Being a used car purchased at an inflated interest rate the insurance company didn't pay the total of the balance on our loan. We were forced to either pay the remaining balance or to return and get another car from them.

After a week we did pick out another car, were told that if we paid this car off the balance would be forgiven on our original vehicle. Things started going wrong this time around after three days. The check engine light came on. We returned to the dealership to ask them to look at it, we were still in our 72 hour period, and see what was wrong with it.

The salesman told us that it was probably just an elictrical problem and if we took the leads off the battery for a minute or two the light would reset and it wouldn't come back on. HE did it, and he was right the light wasn't on anymore. That lasted just long enough for our period to back out of the purchase to expire. When we called them and told them that the light came back on they offered to look at us, but it would cost us. At the time we were strapped for cash, so we had to turn the offer down. The car drove very poorly, we had several things done to the car, but it always returns to running poorly and the car light coming back on.

That isn't all of our troubles though. Every time we went in to make payments on our car for the next several months we were told we were late on our car payments on our first car! We recieved numerous calls telling us to come in and make payments on it. Even after we got the two car issue taken care of we have continued to have problems with them.
