Sears
Will never buy from again

Cars & Transport

I bought a Sears diehard battery a few years back, the tech there told me I should get the diehard silver battery, so I did. That battery only lasted a year and so I paid extra along with a replacement for a Diehard Gold battery. That battery lasted about 3 to 4 years, I figured the battery should have lasted longer. Anyway, I bought another Sears Diehard gold battery and within a year I noticed that it wasn't holding the charge that it used to.

I took it to Sears to have it checked and was told the battery was fine and to clean all terminals. I did all that and still had problem, it got worse, took it back and was told battery is fine. Once again, had to manage to get the battery back out and take it back out, it wouldn't even try to turn the engine over. I called Sears auto before taking the battery to have it retested the 3rd or 4th time. The first thing out of the managers mouth was " you have a bad alternator".

I was told I needed to pay a fee to have my cars alternator tested. I was taked once by these people but not again. I used to work for Sears and I know how they operate.including the time when my car was supposedly realigned on an alignment rack that had worn parts. I took thet Diehard Gold battery back out to Sears once again, I knew this thing had to show up bad because it was at the point to where it would not hold any charge. Low and behold the tester they use finally detected that the battery was bad.

I thought I would get some kind of adjustment or replacement since it had the 3 year warranty. I got told that I have to pay full price for another battery if I wanted a new one. It didn't matter if I paid $69.00 on the battery or not, the manager was rude and told me that is how thier battery policy is.

I said so long, I learned my lesson from buying from Sears. I went somewhere else and got a decent battery, they actually use a load meter and let you see what is actually going on instead of Sears using thier "mystery" machine to determine whether your battery is good or not. The sales person where I bought the replacement battery informed me that my Sears battery needed to be taken back to Sears because it has a 3 year free replcement on the front and the date code isn't even 2 years old. I said Sears will not stand behind thier warranty, before I could go any further, a manager told the salesman that" it is a long story, he isn't the only one with a diehard battery".

I used to work for Sears in the days when they cared about customers. It was a good place at one time. It is sad to see how it has all changed. It is all about quantity and not quality. My last year I worked for this company, you were expected to fix things the fist time, if you have to oprder parts, it goes against you. I know about how bad customers got treated and put off because I was one of those techs. I no longer work for them. I am not going to work for a company that does business in such a haphazard way.in my opinion, Seras is going down the drain. My opinion, Don't buy from Sears.
