Ripoff

In January I had the driver front axle replaced on my Camry 1992 by Tires Plus in Shakopee, Minnesota. What should have taken an hour took a day and cost me more than double the quoted price. I had to leave my car overnight.

The cost for the repair initial estimated at $235 ended up at $478. After working on the car for about 1 hour they told me that the axle was stuck and they had to remove a part attached to the engine to get it out. The manager told me that it will cost me $400 and that I had to leave the car overnight. I agreed to the repair. The next day I was handed a bill of $478, the manager not admiting that he verbally lied to me on the price.

A week later, while removing the wheel from my car, I noticed that they had forgot to put a cotter pin (safety) on the steering attachment to the hub while putting it back together. I fixed the problem. I went back and talked to the manager who said that he doubted that his mechanic will do such a mistake.
