Firestone
Ripoff fired employee after he went to labor board for wages earned

Cars & Transport

Firestone is a dishonest company both for the consumer as well as the employees. I'm the spouse of an employee who worked for Firestone on 31st and Garnett in Tulsa Oklahoma. That store didn't pay him his first weeks wages, the second weeks wages were paid however the pay stub showed the gross, taxes and net and dates of pay as if it were his first paycheck (so according to their records the first week he worked without pay).

We had to take them to the labor board for his first weeks wages which didn't come in till the third payday. Upon which they fired him 48 business ours later (48 hours earlier my husband requested the interest on his wages). Isn't it ILLEGAL to fire someone for requesting they get paid.

My husband was warned by the techs in this shop that this is normal business practices for this store. According to two of the men there are paydays the corporate office just doesn't bother sending all the paychecks to the store and some of the employees just don't get paid that week.

My husband has been in the automotive field for 15 years. He's a seasoned tech who diagnoses problems, actually makes repairs (not parts changing) and "Fixes" vehicles correctly the first time. Were we lived before his clientel were Lawyers, Chiropractors, Doctors, Surgeons and Police Officers. These are not people who can repetively go back to their techs for the same problem.

After spending years getting ASE Certifications and State Licensings to be a professional in his field he's considering getting out of the field simply because he can't find an honest Automotive Repair Facility in Tulsa to work at. Every one he's worked in has changed parts on cars that aren't necessary, repeatedly do not fix the problems, when the customer comes back in because it's not fixed the service writer or the business owner sells the customer some high dollar part/labor "gravy work" as it's referred to sometimes instead of fixing the problem.

Privately owned business's skin wages of the top of his checks and shift commissions so they don't have to pay him/techs and over charge the customer instead of charging according to Chilton or Mitchell book time (Customer charge since I learned to read). They screw the employee as much as they do the customer.

As a consumer you should Know that in the state of Oklahoma there is not an organization that regulates the Automotive Field preventing business's and small business owners from screwing you the consumer. You are fair game for all rip offs and there's nothing you can do about it. They can charge you anything they want, make you pay whether it's fixed or not and send you on your merry way with your car sputtering, hesitating, leakings and spuing chemicals all over the road. The mechanics have no say in their work.

If you want an honest mechanic stay away from anyone who claims Christianity or religion. So far none of them have told either myself or my husband the truth about anything. The more religios the shop owner, the worse he screws the customers and the employees.
