1997 Mercury Grand Marquis defective plastic intake manifold

Ford has installed a plastic intake manifold on ford and mercury V-8 engines that fails at an early age. They have apparently recalled it on some crown vics, but won't cover it on the Grand Marquis. At $600 per replacement, this is class action RIP OFF. Everyone appears to be having this problem when the engine gets about 65,000 to 80,000 miles on it.
